Music and Dance for Isis

Navigium Isidis

Navigium Isidis by Frederic Arthur Bridgman, 1902

“Children of the Goddess” is a song by ‘Esbat Music’ from their album “Pagan Heartbeat”, from back in the Cassette Age. The song was performed at the First Fellowship of Isis World Convention, London, September 1990. This is a shortened version.

Children of the Goddess (shortened)

Words as below:

Children of the Goddess, Meet in the Praise of Isis
Children of the Goddess, Sing in the Praise of Isis
Children of the Goddess, Dance in the Praise of Isis
Children of the Goddess, Love in the Praise of Isis
Isis, Isis, Love that has no End
Mother, Goddess, Sister, Lover, Friend

The song fits well with the dance ‘Nigun Atik’, a blessing dance that is very easy for all to learn. Also easy to use the dance form when processing, so as to walk in step and be more than just an random amble. There are lots of videos on YouTube for Nigun Atik – here’s one. In order to fit “Children of the Goddess” we do the second part twice rather than four times, with a little pause before restarting. Clap, drum, shake sistrums etc as appropriate
